First, it is is very important that you understand that the current release of Klikit-Linux is still in ALPHA STAGE, which means that it is not stable, it may be very buggy, it is only for testing purposes, and should NOT be used in ANY system with important data. The team behind the development of Klikit-Linux will not be responsible in any way.
Once you download the .iso you will have to use a burning program such as k3b, Brasero or Nero.
Do NOT burn the .iso as data, you have to burn it as a (CD/DVD) image.

USING THE LIVECD/DVD:
(sometimes it is necessary to set the BIOS in the PC to boot from the cd-rom/dvd-rom)
Place the Klikit-Linux CD/DVD into your computer
reboot the computer.
you should get the following screen:
Highlight the first option of the menu (Start or Install Klikit-Linux), and hit Enter in your keyboard
the CD/DVD should boot, and after a while you will be automatically logged in as user (Username: user)
into the Klikit-Linux Desktop :

If you logout, and need to login again, or you need to do any
administrative work using sudo, use the following info:
Username: user Password: user
If needed there is also a root account, which you can login into with the following info:
Username: root Password: root
It
is advisable, for security reasons, to login as user, Klikit-Linux is
setup in a way that doing administrative things as a user is quite
simple, but if you want to login as root it is your computer, and it is
your choice!...
INSTALLATION:
Once you have the system running as a LiveCD/DVD, you have the option of installing it in your system.
In the upper left corner of the desktop there is an Install icon, just click on it to launch the installer:

It will ask for a password to continue, enter user
Now Just follow through the steps, answering accordingly to your choices.
When you get to the part of "Who are you?", please do as indicated in the following image:

IMPORTANT: Regardless of what you enter it will create: Username: user Password: user
Don't worry, once you login into the system you will be able, if you wish, to create an account
with any name and password you choose (see below for instructions on how to add a user).
The DVD version comes with everything needed to do a complete installation.
With the CD (LE) Edition, the system will need to download from the web around 120 MB extra to finish the installation.
Differences between the CD (LE) and the DVD editions:
The following things are NOT included in the CD (LE) version:
* flash
* java
* quicktime
* w32codecs
* The Gimp and extras
* OpenOffice (the CD comes with KOffice) - When you install to HD it will install a base of OpenOffice
* Kompozer
* Games
* Akregator (RSS feed reader)
* Kasablanca (ftp client)
* Konversation (IRC Client)
* KTorrent (Bit torrent Client)
* Kaffeine
* KAudioCreator
* VLC
* Kontact
* KArm
* Katapult
* KMouseTool
* Skim
* KDE Groupware Wizard
* Some development libraries
* linux-headers
* language packages (they are reinstalled during the HD installation)
* some fonts (mainly Arabian, African and Asiatic)
All these packages can be installed using APT or Synaptic (in the
future it will be possible to install them using the Storehouse)
For flash, java, quicktime and the w32codecs use the wizards provided. You will find them in the START_HERE folder on the desktop:

Just click on any of the icons to launch the installer, it will provide you with information before proceding.
ADDING ANOTHER USER TO YOUR SYSTEM:
(the instructions also work with the LiveCD/DVD)
for the CD Version:
1) Open the START_HERE folder, and click on the Add or Modify users:
2) it will ask for a password. Enter user
this will launch the program to add or modify users in administrative mode
Click on New:
3) e nter whatever name you want to use:
4) If you want to give your user administrator rights (it will make your life easier), in the Secondary Groups, after scanner, insert sudo and admin (don't forget the commas):
5) Do NOT forget to enter a password for your user, select any password.
When you login for the first time with this new user the system will require that you change the password:
5) Click on Apply and OK:
Your user is all set... Have Fun!!!
for the DVD Version:
Go to the Launch Menu (in the lower left corner) and select KControl (KDE Control Center):
Then select System Administration:
Select User Management, and then Administrator Mode. It will ask for a Password, enter user

From here on it is the same procedure as with the CD, starting with step 2
LOGIN IN FOR THE FIRST TIME:
-After creating your user-
If
you just created a new user, you have to logout (it is better that the
first time you restart your system, so all the settings take place
correctly) and then enter the information about the new user you just
created:
You will be prompted with the following info, and then you will have to enter a new password:
CONFIGURING KNEMO
(the network monitor)
When you login into you new installation, it's possible that the Network Monitor (KNemo) doesn't detect
your network card correctly:
To configure it, right click on the icon (lower right corner), and select Configure KNemo:
Now just click on Defaults and then on Apply, that should "fix" it:
You can configure it to display information youi choose:
Configuring and Using
the DarkPlastic2 theme:
Go to the Launch Menu (in the lower left corner) and select KControl (KDE Control Center):
Then go to the Appearance & Themes section:
Go to Colors, and select Dark Plastic 2, then hit Apply.
Go to Style, and select Domino, then hit Apply.
Go to Window Decorations, and select Crystal
Go to the Buttons Tab and select Vista, Kubuntu Dapper or Kubuntu Edgy/Feisty
Go to the Overlay Tab
On Overlay for Active Windows
select Userdefined, click on the folder icon and select
/opt/Klikit_Extras/Windeco/Crystal_DarkPlastic2/Active Window

Hit OK
Do the same for Overlay for Inactive Window, just select Inactive Window Overlay.png
Hit OK
Now go to your taskbar (kicker) , and right click on it, and select Unlock Panels
right click again on the taskbar (kicker) and select Configure Panel
Go to the Appearance section (select it on the left side)
Select Enable background image, click on the folder, and choose: /opt/Klikit_Extras/kbfx/panel_background/DarkPlastic2.png
Hit Apply and then OK
You are all set!!!
Once you finish it should look something likethe following screenshot (using the CrystalSVG icons):
if you want to go back to the "Klikit look" launch again KControl, Go to the Appearance & Themes section, and select the following:
Colors: Polyester Blue
Icons: Breathless_Light
Style: Polyester
Window Decorations: Polyester
for the taskbar (kicker) select /usr/share/apps/kicker/wallpapers/default.png as the background image
